Marianne Dandurand was elected as the Member of Parliament for Compton–Stanstead in April 2025. Born and raised in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, she has deep roots in the region’s agricultural and rural communities. Representing a diverse riding that includes both rural areas and vibrant regional centres, she is passionate about advocating for communities outside major urban hubs.

Before entering federal politics, Marianne worked as a journalist at La Tribune in Sherbrooke, where she developed a keen understanding of local issues. She then spent over fifteen years in the tourism industry, gaining firsthand experience in a sector vital to the region’s economy. As an entrepreneur in market research, she specialized in analyzing the economic impact of events—a role that combined her analytical skills with a passion for regional development. Additionally, she shared her expertise by teaching statistical analysis at the Université de Sherbrooke.

Dandurand brings valuable political experience from her years as a political staffer, including serving as chief of staff to two federal ministers. In Ottawa, she serves on the Standing Committees on Agriculture and Agri-Food, and Public Safety and National Security. Recently, she was honored to be elected Chair of the Liberal Rural Caucus, where she works to amplify rural voices across the country.

Her priorities focus on supporting regional economic growth, improving cellular coverage in rural areas, strengthening food security, and defending supply management. Dandurand is also actively involved in several interparliamentary associations, including those dedicated to the Francophonie and NATO.

A graduate of the Université de Sherbrooke, she holds a bachelor’s degree in applied politics and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. Above all, Dandurand is driven by a commitment to ensure that communities outside large urban centres are heard and valued on the national stage.
