Sherbrooke, Thursday, May 14, 2026 – In response to tariff pressures, Member of Parliament for Compton–Stanstead Marianne Dandurand highlighted today more than $2.1 million in financial support from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED) for three Sherbrooke businesses in the metal processing sector
Les Entreprises Dauphinais, a manufacturer of refrigerated counters and display units, will receive $1 million to improve productivity and diversify its markets.
Usinage CMO, which specializes in the machining and assembly of custom welded mechanical parts, is also receiving $1 million to support improvements to its productivity and production capacity.
Hydro Coupe Plus, which specializes in the cutting and assembly of welded mechanical parts, will receive $154,806 to modernize its operations.
The Member of Parliament took the opportunity to visit the three SMEs to meet with employees and gain a better understanding of their projects and challenges.
This support is part of the Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), which aims to help SMEs affected by tariffs modernize their operations, diversify their markets and strengthen their competitiveness.
On May 4, the Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for CED, Mélanie Joly, also announced an additional $500 million for the RTRI, as well as a $1 billion program through the Business Development Bank of Canada. This additional support will help more businesses affected by tariff pressures and is part of the Government of Canada’s broader tariff response plan, which includes more than $6.5 billion in new measures to protect Canadian businesses and workers.
